Noonday Collection uses fashion and design to create meaningful opportunity in vulnerable areas of the world.
We have a line of products made out of upcycled artillery left over from previous war conflicts in Ethiopia. This metal is melted down and given a new identity as a source of empowerment, beauty, and hope, rather than a symbol of destruction.
Like the metal itself, the artisans are experiencing a new chapter in their lives: one Addis-based artisan group, Ellilta Women at Risk, employs women coming out of prostitution and empowers them through training as artisans, counseling, education, and quality childcare for their kids, including resources for children with special needs.
Ellilta launches women into long-term healing through dignified work and a renewed sense of their value, and breaks the cycle of poverty and disempowerment for their children. The women’s stories, like the metal, remind us that our past does not have to define our future.
